MESSAGE FROM DR. FOWNES

March 30th, 2023
Dear Patients,
I hope this note finds you well. Recently I had taken a leave of absence from dental practice. After careful consideration these past several weeks, I have decided to retire completely from practicing dentistry.
These past 39 years have been fulfilling professionally and as much as my decision is filled with mixed emotions, I am comforted by the fact that I leave your care in the hands of my dear colleagues, whom I have worked with these past several years. I know all of you can count on them to provide you with excellent ongoing dental care.
I want to thank all of you for your continued loyalty and friendship all these years. It was my pleasure to have you as part of our Fairview Dental family.
It would be my hope that you remain part of the Fairview family for years to come. I wish you all the best for your continued dental health.
Sincerely,
Dr. David E Fownes

Cher patients,

Wisdom Teeth Removal – West Island

October 26th, 2021

If you’re between the ages of 15 and 25 and are experiencing pain or sensitivity in the back of your mouth, then it is possible that your dentist may recommend the removal of your wisdom teeth.

Even though it is possible for a person of any age to require extraction of their wisdom teeth, statistically people over the age of 30 have a much lower propensity to develop issues that require surgery.

On Valentines Day Show Some Love to Your Teeth

February 10th, 2017

IT’S ALMOST VALENTINE’S DAY! HERE ARE SOME TIPS ON KEEPING YOUR TEETH HAPPY

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Fairview Dental would like to remind our patients to be extra careful when choosing your treats.

You’re probably looking forward to spending some quality time with your sweetheart, as well as indulging your sweet tooth with some delicious chocolates & sweets. Of course, it’s important to remember to show your teeth some love as well.

Here are a few Valentine’s Day tips in regards to your oral health care:

1) If you are buying chocolates and sweets on the big day, solid chocolate (the ones without chewy or sugary centers) don’t tend to stick to your teeth like the more chewy treats too, making them better for your oral health. And dark chocolate is always a better option, as it contains less sugar than milk chocolate.

2) Try to avoid gummy candies, hard candies, and sticky caramels. These can be terrible for your teeth.

3) However, if you and your partner just can’t stay away from the candies, it’s best to enjoy them after a meal so that you minimize the exposure to sugar and harmful bacteria.

4) Kissing helps prevent cavities – when you kiss someone it stimulates saliva in your mouth which breaks down plaque and washes bacteria away. So smooch away!

On behalf of Fairview Dental, we wish you and your significant other a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
